Deployed carriage-mounted laser metrology for stationary extrusions, with numeric nominal dimensions and production history

Delivered System
We deployed laser metrology on an existing moving carriage to measure stationary extrusions from above and beside the part. Encoder synchronization connects each reading to its position, supporting checks of length, cut angles, and hole or bushing centers and counts. Numeric nominal dimensions come directly from the production island's information system, and calibrated measurements are evaluated against configurable tolerances. Industrial communication connects inspection results to production controls, while API and MES integration preserve measurement history. The decision logic blocks an OK result when readings are missing or unreliable. Commissioning covered representative extrusions, data exchange, and acceptance behavior.

Defined checks from production dimensions
We mapped extrusion length, cut angles, and hole or bushing positions and counts to numeric nominal dimensions. The production island's information system supplies these values directly, giving each inspection a defined reference and configurable acceptance tolerances.
Synchronized top and side measurements
We integrated two laser heads on the existing carriage to scan stationary extrusions from above and beside the part. Encoder synchronization relates readings to position along the extrusion, while calibration establishes the measurement reference used by the inspection checks.

Connected decisions and measurement history
We implemented industrial data exchange with production controls and connected measurement history through APIs and the MES. The acceptance logic blocks OK decisions for missing or unreliable readings, keeping acquisition quality part of every reported inspection result.
Commissioned with representative extrusions
We tested representative sections, lengths, and angled cuts under actual carriage operating conditions. Commissioning checked hole and bushing measurements, calibration stability, data exchange, and blocked-OK behavior, completing the connection between physical acquisition, acceptance decisions, and production records.
